Princess -- the bald chicken

Princess parrot plucked all of her front and some of her back feathers off. Arrggghh!!!! Why do African Grey parrots do this, it's SO frustrating!!!!!!!!!! I even went out the other weekend to buy all new toys to help remedy the situation, but she still didn't let them grow back. The last time she did this was when I moved to London for a summer college study abroad program. However when I came back she grew them back.Argh! :( If she keeps it up, she will look like a purdue chicken, instead of a parrot, which I certainly won't will be the case.

it's emotional. It has to do with either emotional stress in the home, or emotional stress perceived by the parrot between itself and it's special person (you). I'm not assuming you have caused the situation, but that your parrot is extremely sensitive and possibly remedies of more time with you, scheduled time with you daily, special training time, etc..etc..may help. Let me know :)

I was just browsing lj and I happened to stumble upon your's. I know that greys tend to "pluck" more than other parrots. Here's a website that can help you.http://birdmart.com/chatboards/greys/
